V.I.Pet Resort, the "ultimate vacation spot for cool cats and hot dogs," has been a home-away-from-home for dogs and cats in Southwest Orlando for almost five years. In fact, owner Annmarie Paparella will be celebrating V.I.Pet Resort's fifth anniversary June 28. Pet owners use the facilities to board their animals, have them groomed, and let their dogs spend time with other dogs in doggie day care.
There is a large selection of collars, leashes and toys available for purchase in V.I.Pet Resort's lobby.
Bay Hill residents Lee and Carol Noga were one of V.I.Pet Resort's first customers and have been faithfully returning to have their Pomeranian, AJ, groomed. "He comes with his tail wagging, and leaves with it wagging," Carol said.
Cats boarded at V.I.Pet Resort have playtime at the Cool Cat Courtyard and receive one-on-one attention from staff.
What the cat enjoys the top tier of its vacation suite. Each visiting cat has its own three-tiered room to bask in. Rabies and distemper shot records are required for boarded cats.
V.I.Pet Resort staff members recommend pet owners bring a pet's regular food to keep it on a consistent diet. Each pet has its own food bin. For those who do not bring food, V.I.Pet Resort serves Science Diet.
Buffy is cozy in a 4-foot-by-8-foot dog suite. Her owners provided her own pet porter. However, V.I.Pet Resort provides comfortable bedding and bowls for guests. Owners may bring treats and toys from home.
V.I.Pet Resort's doggie suites are open at the top, and the "view" is a tropical paradise.
One side of Hot Dog Park is exclusively for little dogs. Annmarie spends a lot of her time playing with other dogs during the day. V.I.Pet Resort has a choice of all-afternoon group play, a 1-hour group play, or one-on-one playtime with staff.
Annmarie and a beautiful Husky have a one-on-one moment over the fence dividing the two parks. All of the dogs that visit V.I.Pet Resort must have proof of rabies, distemper and bordetella shots, whether boarding or being groomed.
Larger dogs enjoy chasing balls, playing tag with each other, and just hanging out in Hot Dog Park. All dogs staying the day or longer must wear a regular collar or harness for walking purposes. Twice daily, all the dogs are walked on a leash outside in V.I.Pet Resort's grassy area.
V.I.Pet Resort's professional groomer, Sharon, shampoos, dries and grooms dogs that have appointments in the "salon and spa." All puppies under age 1 are required to have a bath before they leave after boarding or day care.
The animals at V.I.Pet Resort seem relaxed, happy and curious. Charlie, a large, cuddly, mop of a dog peeks out from his doggie suite.
